I'm considering purchasing a few 500gb internal hard drives and a hard drive dock to use as storage. I really don't trust hard drives as they are mechanical devices and all mechanical devices will eventually break. My question is, if one of my hd's fail mechanically or otherwise, is it possible at all to retrieve the data stored on them?
